Lionmask is a big girl, with a dark sandy pelt and six toes on all her paws. She has a rosette pattern on her pelt as well, noticeable if you stare at her long enough. She had a large, curly mane around her head and neck and extends down to her tail like a mohawk. The tip of her tail is tuft like a lion’s with a light tip. She has a dark brown ‘mask’ around her eyes, which are green, and little white tufts on her ears that match her tail.
+ Devoted, Protective, Loyal
Lionmask would gladly lay down her life for her family, vowing to protect what little of it there was. She's loyal to her own ambitions and intuitions; if it came to picking her son or her clan, she would break every code she needed to to ensure her family was safe.
= Familial, Formal, Intense
That doesn't mean she isn't without flaws, her familial devotion is not watered down with her already intense way of life. Lionmask has never half-assed anything in their life, and they don't plan on starting.
- Loud, Combative, Stubborn
If Lionmask hates what's being announced, be it from a clanmate to god, they will hear about it. Never wrong, ready to fight, and ready to trample anyone who tramples over her, if you were looking for a soft mom to coddle you, lionmask isn't it.
Lionkit was born as a singleton littler to warriors Brackenbeard and Sweetsong, who wasted no time in smothering the young kit with all the love they had. The loving couple was embarrassingly proud of everything, from Lionkit crawling, her first words, everything was a celebration for them. Their love for each other and their budding family was sweet, almost sickeningly so.
She was all but smothered with affection, which she grew embarrassed about when she became an apprentice.
While Lionpaw never had an itch to be leader, the fact that she picked up warrior concepts and accepted responsibility willingly led to many of the older cats lamenting what a waste of talent she was, due to her plant zodiac. So, she wanted to make sure it was a damn shame. She hoped her whole clan would be cursed with horrible leaders, all with animal zodiacs. Maybe one day her clan would scrape their knees begging for her to lead. And she would say no. Lionpaw then met other apprentices at the gatherings. She would regularly volunteer to go, so she saw a few familiar faces, some of them other Barkclan apprentices that she was polite to. Nothing that really tempted her or anything, until Dovepaw also became a regular face, even at the boarder patrols when they accidentally sync’d up, she would catch glimpses of her.
As a fresh warrior, getting her name Lionmask, Astron and Vanus fought in the sky, resulting in an Earthquake that caused wide-spread destruction. Not only that, but the fight happened while Lionmask’s mother, Sweetsong was out of the camp. They never found her body, and Brakenbeard was determined to find out if Sweetsong was dead or alive. Without concrete proof, it was hard for the warrior to let go of the mate he loved so much, promising to never stop looking for her. In doing so, he neglected much of his own health, passing a few moons later.
Few comforted Lionmask, and that determination to show her clan what they would really be missing out on fizzled. She became more aloof, and less interested in her duties. The only real person who comforted her was Dovespeckle, the Barkclan apprentice-turned-warrior that would frequent the gatherings.
They got closer and closer to one another, Dovespeckle helping Lionmask with her grief and feelings of self-worth, and Lionmask helped Dovespeckle pick a new name for herself when she started feeling distant with the name she was given. This cross-clan friendship eventually blossomed into something more, leaving Lionmask pregnant with a small litter of kits.
The two warriors had discussed what to do, since the clans were at a point of high tension, bringing Lionmask over wouldn’t be easy. Lionmask figured that Barkclan wouldn’t turn away someone so far along in their kittening, and if anything she could argue about her zodiac, or her loyalties, or anything really to keep her family together.
While trying to cross the boarder, Dovespeckle was tailed by the deputy at the time, Cypressthorn, who denied Lionmask almost immediately. Lionmask attempted to make her case, but her kits could not wait. Cypressthorn left without hearing Lionmask out -- but didn’t say a word about what had happened either. Lionmask then gave birth to two kits with the help of Dovespeckle’s own medicine knowledge.
However, one of the kits was born stillborn, the kit who resembled Lionmask the most, and who she named Goatkit. Sheepkit, was born healthy and strong -- However the tensions, the stillborn, it made Lionmask not want to fight too much to be in Barkclan. It seemed like a bad omen, like she was doing something wrong.
Dovespeckle understood, and after being together for a while, Lionmask took Sheepkit back to Marrowclan with her; While Dovespeckle took Goatkit with her -- and had a secret Barkclan funeral for them.
Lionmask then did her best to keep her love affair and half-clan kit a secret, though Sheepkit did look a lot like Dovespeckle. Deny, Deny, Deny, if anything, Lionmask was still the Queen of girlboss, gaslight, gatekeep. She integrated Sheepkit into Marrowclan and made sure that her annoyance at any allegation involving her son would be shut down quickly and violently if need be.
She was very careful at visitation, and made sure no one would follow them when she brought Sheepkit to the boarder for Dovespeckle to look at. Though, they could both tell that Sheepkit wasn’t very fond of Dovespeckle -- something she tried very hard to remedy with gifts of homemade toys or food. Both of them were very proud at having Sheep’paw being apprenticed, and how well he was doing during his training. Both of them joked at how he may look more like Dovespeckle, but his attitude and knack for responsibility came from Lionmask. When he was given a warrior name early, Lionmask was ecstatic to share the news, though Dovespeckle looked more… Conflicted, if anything.
When news of more daemons and little shrines started popping up, as well as a clan consisting of both Marrowclan and Barkclan warriors, Dovespeckle brought up the idea of both of them moving to a new clan, which was then unnamed and just a rumor floating around. Since Lionmask already had a certain affection for Ceti budding, they joked that if there was ever a clan where they could live together as a family, maybe they’d give it a try. However, when Barkclan made an attempt at getting the Stars Falls again, Dovespeckle was unfortunately killed.
